                                        New Energy Efficiency Initiative
We are excited to announce our new program aimed at improving the energy efficiency of our homes.  At FVP we understand that saving energy is not only good for the earth, but for our tenants financial health as well.  Many of the low income families receiving assistance in our homes spend a disproportionate amount of their income on energy when compared to middle and upper income individuals.  As a result, our families benefit even more from only small increases in their homes energy efficiency.  With the installation of this program into our renovation and maintenance procedures we hope to increase the efficiency of our current properties by 25% over the next two years.  New properties will be able to achieve this improvement even faster.  Please read below to find out some of what we are doing to reach our goal.

    - All bulb replacements will be with compact fluorescent bulbs.  New homes will be made ready with the CFB's already in place.

    -  Windows in need of replacement will be replaced with double pane types.

    -  Weatherstripping around doors will be upgraded and inspected for leaks.

    -  Thermostats in need of replacement will be upgraded to programable digital models.  New homes will be made ready with these in place.

    -  HVAC units being replaced will be upgraded to Energy Star approved models.

    -  Water heaters will be upgraded on replacement with Energy Star approved models.

    -  All shower heads being replaced will be upgraded to low flow adjustable models.  New homes will be made ready with these installed.
